I had a really great visit at Hotel Santiago de Compostela in Centro Guadalajara. I booked through booking.com and the price was reasonable- the location is extremely convenient. My room/suite is gorgeous, it has a strong AC, 3 balconies looks out over the plaza at Los Dos Templos, a smart TV, 2 lounge chairs and a couch—and a small card table with chairs. The queen sized bed is comfortable, the bathroom is renovated, and there is a vanity with a long counter, a stool, and a mirror. There was bottled water for me upon arrival and there’s a small coffee pot with instant coffee should you want to brew your own. The room is bigger than a Manhattan studio apartment! There’s some noise from the street, but that’s to be expected for an urban location at a transportation hub. There is a patio and a pool on the rooftop, which is lovely- 1.66 meters deep, and the water was refreshing in the morning and shaded in the afternoon (May). My only suggestion would be to add a couple lounge chairs by the pool, for optimal comfort and sun bathing. There are convenience stores (OXO and 7-11) on the corner, awesome tacos 2 blocks down, and there’s a Taxi stand directly in front of the hotel. I’m glad I found this spot, it made my solo trip to Guadalajara easy and comfortable. Though you can’t check in until 3, the concierge will store your bags so you can go enjoy the city before check-in and after you check out. The staff also recommended and arranged a Saturday ALL DAY Tequila tour through @JaliscoGoldenTours for reasonable price (cheaper than the Tequila Train). I encountered very accommodating and friendly staff, I’ll stay here again and recommend to friends!

The room smelt like mold! It would be nice to have an outside window. Even the windows into the middle courtyard have the balcony, so people can walk in front and look right into your room and directly into the bathroom, so you pretty much need to keep the curtains shut. It takes a. Long time for hot water for the shower. Be patient though, it will come. You need to reprogram your key every time you leave your room to get back in. I am not sure if they are replacing the flooring in the lobby, but it looks like there are stains on it! I know it is clean, as they mop it every morning. The cleaning staff start moping the floors right outside your room pretty early in the morning and you can here everything going on outside the rooms. The pool was also pretty cloudy although very well used while I was there. There was also some kind of a sewer smell while sitting up there. There are homeless people right on the corner by the 7 eleven, which were not a bother and not the hotels fault either.

The staff, Ismael & Juan Carlos were very attentive to client standards and needs. Polite and amicable for a gay couple. Also very helpful to provide us with information to visit the city. The one hour of live piano music in late afternoon was amazing and so much appreciated after a long day of touring.

The location was great! Everything was in walking distance. I liked that the rooms had blackout curtains so it was nice and dark. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They had a breakfast buffet that you have to pay for but it was pretty good.

Dianna

The location was great. The hotel was at a walking distance from all of the attractions in the city center. The room was large and comfortable. The staff was friendly. There was someone at the front desk at all hours. We felt very safe.
